SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Laptop or computer
- Cricut Explore
- Wood sign blank
- Assorted acrylic paint and paintbrushes
- Assorted vinyl colors
- 2 fish eye hooks
- 12"x 24" Cricut mat
- Weeding tool
- Mod Podge Matte
- Transfer paper
DIRECTIONS:
- Remove hardware from the sign and strap.
- Paint the front of the sign white, and the edges gold.
- Multiple coats until sign is fully covered. Let dry for 24 hours.
- Paint the back of the sign light orange and the edge black.
- Let dry for 24 hours.
- Measure the inside of your sign, for this sign it was approximately 14"x 18".
- Open Design Space and insert scalloped edge from shapes.
- Stretch the scalloped edge to 18" and duplicate 4x and change color to white.
- Insert HAPPY FALL! SVG and size according to your sign, attach SVG change color to white.
- On the back, insert 2 spider webs from images and size approximately 5"x5" and change color to white.
- Insert SPOOKY SEASON SVG, and size according to your sign space.
- Change colors to pink and black.
- Cut with the Cricut and follow on screen instructions.
- Weed vinyl set aside.
- Hand peel up the cut scalloped vinyl and place around all 4 edges of the inside of the white frame.
- Paint Mod Podge over the scalloped vinyl making sure you paint it going into the white frame background.
- Let dry, and then paint the inside square of the sign burnt orange.
- Carefully peel up the scalloped vinyl, leaving you with a white painted scalloped edge and a burnt orange center sign.
- Let completely dry.
- Add Happy Fall! Vinyl to sign using transfer paper.
- Flip the sign over and using transfer paper place white spider web in opposite corners.
- Place SPOOKY SEASON black outline down first, then pink inside wording down on top.
- Using the eye hooks, hand twist them into the top of the sign and attach the strap to finish the sign!
JOANN HACKS:
- Use a hair dryer on cool to speed up the paint drying process.
- Putting Mod Podge over the stencil scalloped boarder will help the burnt orange paint from seeping through, this creates a perfect painted edge once you peel up the scalloped vinyl.
