Intermediate 3-5 Hours
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • Simplicity S8982
  • 58" Rayon Rib Knit (required yardage plus 1/4yd for full turtleneck)
  • Thread
  • 1/2yd of 3/8" Clear Elastic
  • Ballpoint Needle 80/12

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Project image is View C with the single notched edges of neckband pattern piece #8 extended from 4 1/4" to 10". Use pieces 5-6 and 8-10 in chosen size. Place pattern pieces on fabric with the greater stretch going across the width of the pattern rather than the length. (On some knits this may mean laying the pieces crosswise rather than lengthwise.) Sew knit seams with a narrow zigzag, stretch stitch, or serger. To avoid stretching, use a walking foot, decrease pressure on the presser foot, or adjust the differential setting on the serger. Follow the instructions for Top C, sewing elastic into front shoulder seams in Step 1. Use the taller neckband in Steps 5-7. Finish construction for Top C.

JOANN HACKS:
  • Use Clover Clips instead of pins to prevent snagging.
  • Mark notches with chalk or Clover Chaco Line Pen.
