Ribbon Chain Garland

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Wired ribbon: 3 colors, equal widths
  • Hot glue gun/glue gun sticks
  • Pinking shears
  • Sharp scissors
  • 24-gauge wire

DIRECTIONS:

  • For the ribbon chain:
    1. Cut the wired ribbon into short strips with pinking shears - about 10" long for 1 1/2" wide ribbon; about 14" long for 2 1/2" wide ribbon.
    2. Fold a ribbon strip into a loop.
    3. Secure with hot glue.
    4. Loop the next ribbon strip through the first loop.
    5. Secure with hot glue.
    6. Continue the process for the whole chain.

  • For the bows:
    1. Unspool the wired ribbon.
    2. Fold in half lengthwise.
    3. The folded edge will be the center of the bow.
    4. Make the bow by measuring 5" out from the center on either side; bend the wire.
    5. Measure another 5" back in towards the center on either side.
    6. Wrap wire around the top of the bow tail.
    7. Wrap another piece of wire around the center of the bow.
    8. Measure the tails to the desired length (between 26" and 36".)
    9. Cut the ends at a 45-degree angle, longest point on the outside.
    10. Cut a scrap piece of ribbon to 3".
    11. Fold the edges of the 3" ribbon towards the center.
    12. Wrap the 3" ribbon around the center of the bow.
    13. Secure with hot glue on the back.
    14. Trim excess ribbon.
