DIRECTIONS:
PILLOWBASE
- Cut one 26"x 32" piece and two 22"x 26" pieces out of the main flannel solid. Cut two 3"x 32" pieces and two 3"x 20" pieces of medium-weight interfacing.
- Use an iron to adhere the interfacing around the edges of the large flannel piece and set aside.
- On the smaller flannel pieces, fold one long side over an inch and press with an iron. Fold over again and secure with the straight pins.
- Sew across the fold.
- Position the two smaller flannel pieces, right sides together, on top of the larger flannel piece - raw edges matching and the sewn edge sides overlapping in the interior.
- Pin into place and trim the edges if needed so they are closely aligned.
- Sew 3 inches in from the edge, all the way around. You should have an inner rectangle that measures 20"x 26".
- Trace the Ripple Template onto the pillow flange using the disappearing ink pen. Cut following that line. Remove the disappearing ink if needed, and set aside.
EDGE TRIM
- Create bias tape out of the contrasting flannel and place it right sides together on the pillow with the raw edges matching. Secure it with pins all the way around. Make sure to pull the bias tape taut around the ripple curves. Fold in the beginning end and sew along the unfolded crease of the bias tape. Trim the second end so its raw edge meets the raw edge of the first end. Refold the bias tape over the raw edge of the pillow. Make sure that you are covering the first bias tape stitching all the way around. Edge stitch the bias tape from the right side of the pillow to finish.
JOANN HACKS:
- Use tape to mark a line 3 inches in from the edge, all the way around. Sew pillowcase together following the 3 inch tape guide.
