Santa Bag

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Print fabric
• Solid fabric
• Fur trim
• Batting
• Scissors

DIRECTIONS:

(Use 1/2" seam allowance)

1. Decide on size to make bag and choose fabric for front, back and inside of bag. Example is 40"x 30".
2. Cut front (solid) and back (print) pieces 41"x 31". Cut batting 41"x 31".
3. Sew batting to front and back pieces around edges. Sew front to back along three sides to make a bag. Trim edges and corners to reduce bulk.
4. Cut solid fabric for lining 41"x 31" and sew three sides to make a bag.
5. Lay fur trim around top edge of outer bag and batting. Sew the binding of the trim to the right side of the upper edge of bag, leaving a 1" piece to tuck into the fur trim where you began.
6. Fold top of lining bag 1" to wrong side and press. Insert lining into the bag and attach to the trim binding. Sew close to edge of fur trim to attach lining to the outer bag section.
7. Cut two 2" pieces of fabric for drawstring, measuring width of bag and adding 10" for length. Press in half, open up and bring edges to center. Sew along edge to make drawstring. (This step is similar to making binding.)
8. Measure 1/2" from top of bag and sew top casing line. Measure 1 1/2" from stitching line sew bottom casing line for drawstring.
9. Carefully cut open side seams between casing lines to insert drawstring, being careful not to cut into fabric. 
10. Begin by threading one drawstring completely through the casing. Tie ends together. Starting from the opposite side seam, thread the other drawstring through so you now have two drawstrings that are completely threaded through the top of the bag. Tie ends together.
