Seasons Greetings Cactus Doormat

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Stencil Vinyl
• StandardGrip Machine Mat, 12"X 24"
• Transfer Tape
• Weeder
• Scissors
• Outdoor Spray Paint, Red
• Outdoor Spray Paint, Green
• Doormat
• Cricut Machine
• Optional: Clear Coate, Matte

DIRECTIONS:

1. If you want to alter the project, select Customize, then use the tools in the Edit panel to make changes before you cut.
2. You will need an open area to spray in, where the doormat can lie flat on the ground for an extended period of time. A ground cover is recommended as well to prevent overspray.
3. Make sure your doormat is clean and completely dry before starting.

1. Follow Design Space prompts to cut images from stencil vinyl.

1. Use a Weeder Tool to remove both cactus and the phrase, leaving the negative space.
2. Use Transfer Tape to apply stencil vinyl cuts to your project.
3. Covering the cactus portion of the stencil, and holding the red spray paint can about three feet above the doormat, apply the paint in light, sweeping strokes. For best results, each coat should be light and 'settle' over the stencil, rather than sprayed into it.
4. Spray multiple passes of paint over the "Seasons Greetings" phrase until letters are solid red. Allow it to dry.
5. Cover red painted "Seasons Greetings" phrase, and repeat process for spraying each cactus with green spray paint in light, sweeping strokes.
6. Spray multiple passes of green paint over each cactus until lines are solid green. Allow it to dry.
7. Allow the mat to fully dry before removing the stencil pieces.
8. Use snips or scissors to trim away any overspray, and to sharpen edges of mat to get them nice and crisp, if needed.
9. For extra longevity, spray the entire mat with a coat of matter clear coat.
