- Don’t hem pants. This fabric doesn’t fray. Leaving hem raw. TOP (McCall’s 8160):
- Trace front, back and sleeve onto Kraft paper.
- Measure desired length of sleeve plus 3".
- For the mock neckline, draw a curve line up 1/2" from shoulder on the front and back. When sewing shoulder line, pleat over a 1/2" at the beginning of mock neckline. This will give the neckline a turn under of the 1/2". The pleating of the foil fabric will shape to a high neckline. Steam the 1/2" under.
- CROP TOP: Leave the front on the fold and put the back pattern on the fold. Shorten the front and back to the waist. Cut off excess Kraft paper. Measure the upper waist plus 1". Sew a casing of 1" leaving an opening to insert elastic. Insert 3/4" elastic, sew ends together then stitch closed.
- LONG SLEEVES: Follow pattern instructions for the sleeve application. Cut the 1/4" elastic to wrist measurements plus 2". Turn up 3/4", sew a casing, insert elastic, stitch elastic closed, stitch opening closed.
- BELT: Use belt in View C. Follow instructions in pattern.
Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:
