We love this machine
We love this Machine. We were looking for an upgrade from a standard machine to help us with quilting. We are beginner quilters and needed some assistance in choosing our upgrade. We spoke in length with the team member on several machines and decided on this one. We do a lot of quilting and liked the features and set up of this machine. We are very pleased with how this machine functions. It has added a significant improvement in our quilting because of the added features. If you are beginning quilter like us, I highly recommend This machine is your next upgrade.

Good sewing machine!
I like this sewing machine!
I like the smaller arm ! I love the top load bobbin! I have several machines over the years and I wear them out by doing tons of alterations for a local cleanser and other projects!
I go back and forth between Singer and Brothers
I always look for needle down buttons and a sewing backwards button!
The only thing I wish this sewing machine had is that other one had was that when the foot is up and needle is down to turn fabric the machine would beep at you to pretty something was not right!
Also one of my machine would beep at me when the bobbin was almost out I thought it was a Singer but I haven’t found that feature lately

I bought this3 months ago and have been fighting with it since. I was going to send it back but Joann’s said I had to deal with Singer and Singer said I had to deal with Joann’s…grrr! I have found out it works great if you can get it threaded correctly. Holding your finger on the bobbin helps. Always do a sample stitch first.

Do not buy!
I bought this machine in November 2023. It ran like a charm. I had fun trying the different settings. Then in February 2024, it became very sporadic with sewing just a straight stitch. The needle would go down and freeze. It would sew about an inch with the foot pedal and freeze. I would depress the hands-free sewing button several times before anything would happen. Then, when I stepped away from the machine, it would start sewing on its own. I took it to be serviced but they wouldn't touch it, saying it was the computer board.

Disappointing- SINGER Patchwork Plus C5980Q
It had been 30+ years since I bought a new sewing machine. Singer has been a trusted brand for sewists in my family for generations. I was extremely excited to purchase the Patchwork Plus C5980Q. But as I tried it out, I cried. At least one of the decorative modes didn't work at all. After calling SINGER and having a lengthy chat with a warranty shop. It was deemed that my machine, like several others was defective.
I then with a heavy heart, returned the Patchwork Plus, and ended up with a different brand with less decorative options. It's so sad, it seems that SINGER is not as reliable as it was way back when.

Works like a charm
This machine worked like a charm straight out of the box. I have been contemplating a new machine for a few years now and this machine has taken all my worries away. I have not used every application yet, but what I have done with it, I have not had any problems. The only reason for four stars and not 5 is because it doesn't come with a paper manual.

Tension problems
I bought this because I own the singer patchwork 7285Q which works beautifully. I thought the patchwork plus C5980Q would be a very similar machine with more stitch options. However, it has had tension problems from the first time I’ve used it. It creates little loops in the thread no matter which tension I set it on. It does not have an auto tension feature. It is not worth the price if I cannot even do a straight stitch without it looking like a 5yr sewed it.

Great machine
I bought this machine thinking that it would be used primarily for quilt as you go projects. Well, fooled myself as this has quickly taken over all my Holiday projects. Highly recommend this machine!
