Sling Chair Fabric Pieces

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Fabric, vinyl woven mesh, black,19 1/2"xx 51 3/4", 1
• China marker or colored pencil, light color, 1
• Yardstick
• Sewing machine
• Sewing notions
• Fabric clips or cinder clips
• Eraser

DIRECTIONS:

1. Cut one long edge of fabric straight on the woven mesh pattern line. Measure from the cut edge and cut one piece of fabric 19 1/2"x 51 3/4". Mark a line 1 1/2" in from both long edges. Double fold raw edges to the mark. Use fabric clips or binder clips to hold fabric in place. Double stitch hems close to both sides of folds starting and stopping stitching 1/2" from ends. Clip corners of hems from folded edges to corners to reduce fabric bulk.


2. On the back of the fabric, side with the hems, mark a line 1" in from both short ends of fabric. Fold fabric down to 1" mark and sew close to the raw edges starting and stopping stitching 1/2" from both ends. Clip the folded corners of hems from raw edges to folded corners to reduce fabric bulk.


3. On the front of the fabric, mark a line 2 1/8" in from the folded edges of the short ends of fabric. Fold fabric on the line folding the 2 1/8" section of fabric to the back. This will create 1 5/8" pockets at the top and bottom of the chair cover. Double stitch the pocket on top of the 1/2" folded end, 1/8" and 1/4" from the fold.


4. At both ends of the top edges of the pockets tack down 3/8".


5. Use an eraser to remove China marker or colored pencil marks.
