Cool idea, poor designThe concept is great and for that it gets 2stars. The kit itself gets less than 1 star. It says you need a measuring cup. OK, no problem. Most people have one of those in their kitchen. However, when you read the directions you have to measure out a very very precise amount of water that no kitchen measuring cup measures to that detail (2.29 oz. or 68 ml). There are envelopes of powder that they tell you to use 2/3 of each, however there is no indication of how much powder is in each envelope, therefore it’s really really hard to determine exactly 2/3. I get that part of the activity was teaching kids how to measure very precisely, however they really should have included the measuring cup and also something to measure the powder in. Because as is, it’s almost impossible to measure those correctly.
You have to boil the water and then dissolve the powder in the water, and you really have to work fast otherwise it’s hard to get the powder to dissolve completely.
My other big problem, is the kit has all these warnings about how toxic the chemicals are, includes goggles to make sure you don’t splash your face, however there’s no mention of wearing gloves. My daughter wisely thought we should wear gloves and we did. Again that’s just common sense and I can’t believe it was not mentioned and/or included.

Not a slam dunk project2 of the 3 crystals didn’t grow at all. Wouldn’t buy again. Disappointed kids, disappointed parents.
