Very rough
This feels more like a cheap velvet to me. The knapp is very similar to that. It’s not really soft at all, more smooth one way, and quite rough when you push the other way. I bought this to back kids quilts but can’t use it - what a waste.

Cute star patten
This is another great soft minky option. It just "feels" very high quality when you feel it. Its sort of heavy, thick back, short pile front. The stars are VERY light so just keep that in mind. VERY CUTE though!

Not suitable for clothing
It has a hard nylon backing. Not suitable for clothing unless you use a soft liner. Better for blankets. Wish I could read all the reviews before I purchased online.

Cute Baby Blanket Minky Backing w/ Fleece Top
I used this gray star minky fabric for the backing of a mitered corner baby blanket, for my friend's new baby girl. I used a favorite pattern of mine, the pink Baby Sheep Fleece for the top of the blanket. So soft after pre-washing the fabrics! I coordinated it with a reversible two-colored baby flannel receiving blanket with the same sheep!

So Soft and Cuddly
This was the first time I used this type of fabric. Bought the gray embossed stars for the backing of a Mickey & Minnie fleece blanket I made for a gift. Love the feel. It’s not a thick pile, but just as heavy as regular fleece. I’m guessing because of the embossing, it’s also not too stretchy. Fairly easy to sew into a self-binding blanket using a walking foot for the 3-4 layers of fabric. Gift- receiver loved the blanket — “it’s sooo soft!” :) Made another blanket with the navy embossed stars and NFL team fleece; that was a hit, too. Debated on whether or not to give this 5 stars since the fabric can get wrinkled. I didn’t try to steam iron it before giving the blankets since I was on a time crunch. But I was able to carefully iron on an applique — per the included instructions, WITH a pressing cloth — onto this Soft & Minky. No melting problems. Overall, I’m happy with it and I’d definitely by this again. It’ll be the standard backing of other fleece blankets I’ll make in the near future.

Received this recently and debated about returning. Good buy but not soft like minky fabric usually is. Short fibers and hard back.
