DIRECTIONS:

1. Star Quilt, Twin Size (1/2" seam allowance)
2. Cut the following:
3. Dark Gray: 41"x 59"
4. Light gray: transfer star patterns to fusible web and cut with fabric attached, variety of star sizes
5. Print: stars, repeat same as light gray
6. Blue: 5"x 62", 6"x 62"
7. Green: 8"x 62", 5"x 62"
8. Orange: 6"x 62", 8"x 62"
9. Side borders print:
10. Front, (2) 12"x 59"
11. Back, (2) 12"x 90"
12. Center back print: 41"x 90"
13. Binding: 4"x 25' 9"
14. Batting: 65"x 90"
15. Fuse stars to center front, dark gray panel in a random pattern. Zig zag stitch around all stars to secure.
16. Sew together strips using template for placement.
17. Sew borders to center panels.
18. Sew solid color strips to center/border panels.
19. Press all seams toward darker colors.
20. Sandwich batting between front and back panels.
21. Pin and baste through all layers and quilt.
22. Trim edges to square.
23. Sew binding strips together. Press seams open. Fold length edges to center and then fold in half, press. Wrap binding around edges of blanket
24. starting away from a corner. Sew. Overlap and fold under the raw edge to finish.


25. Planet Shaped Pillow:
26. Cut 2 orange circles 19" round. Sew RST 1/2" seam allowance leaving a 3" opening to turn.
27. Turn RSO and fill and hand stitch opening closed.
28. Cut two ring pattern and one batting approximately 1/2" smaller than pattern. Pin fabric RST with batting on one side. Sew together around outer circle edge catching the batting 1/2" SA.
29. Turn ring RSO and press.
30. Turn under inside edges 1/2" and press. Sew close to folded edges. Sew other concentric circles around ring.
31. Place ring centered around circle pillow. One ring side facing up and one ring side facing down. Pin. Hand stitch in place. Tack at center of front and back to help keep the circle facing up and down.


32. One Pillow Sham:
33. For 20"x 26" pillow cut one print fabric 25"x 31", one solid color fabric 25"x 37".
34. Split solid color fabric in half on length at 18 1/2". Fold one 25" edge of each of the two panels under 1/4" then under another 1/4" and press. This will encase the raw edges. Sew close to edge.
35. Lay front print panel RSU. Lay one back panel RSD on top lining up the raw edges. Layer the second back panel on the opposite end again lining up the raw edges. The two back panels will overlap. Sew around the raw edged with a 1/2" SA. Turn RSO and press. Sew 2" in from folded edges.
36. Insert pillow through back opening.


37. Star Pillows:
38. Lay fabric RST. Cut out star pattern. Pin around outside of star shape. Insert pins at points and between legs of stars pointing toward center of star. These pins will provide locations to turn direction when sewing the seam allowance. Pin every 2" leaving a 3" opening for turning.
39. Sew a 5/8" SA backstitching on either side of opening. Trim points to 1/8" from stitching. Angle cut the sides of the seam allowance from the points of the star. This will reduce the bulk of fabric at the tips once the fabric is turned right side out. Cut toward the seam on the seam allowance, between the star points, so the seam will flare when turned right side out. Be careful not to cut into the seams.
40. Turn RSO. Gently push out points with chopstick or dowel. Hand press out seams. Topstitch 3/8" leaving opening.
41. Fill. Insert fill into points first, center last. Fill last point by opening. Tuck in edges of opening. Pin to match topstitched edges. Hand press fill back 1 1/2" from pinned edge and pin to hold in place. This will flatten the section of pillow to allow for sewing on a machine. Start at point of star to topstitch opening 3/8" to match up with sides of opening.


42. Rocket Pillow:
43. (1/2" seam allowance)
44. Cut all parts from pattern.
45. Fuse all applique parts. Locate on to front and side panels, fuse and zig zag stitch around edges to secure.
46. Sew fin side print fabric RST on large and small curves. Sew in fin base. Turn RSO. Fill. Pin edge that will attach to body of rocket closed and sew 1/2" from raw edge. Repeat.
47. Pin one fin to back location on one side panel. Pin the other two at locations on sides of front panel. Sew 1/2" SA to attach.
48. Place the two side panels RST. Sew together, lining up the top applique straight edges at the seams. Be sure to keep the back sides of the side panels together. Sew the front to the two sides, RST, again lining up the top applique straight edges at the seams.
49. Pin in the base circle RST to the upper body. Sew 1/2" SA around one side panel and the front panel. Leave one side open to turn. Turn RSO.
