DIRECTIONS:
-
Oversized Chair:
- 5/8" SA, topstitch 1/4" from seam.
- Layout all pattern pieces on WS of fabric. Cut.
- Base and back on 3' sides center zipper. Sew 5/8" SA tight before and after zipper. Baste at zipper placement. Lay zipper face down centered on back of seam. Double stitch in place. Turn and remove baste stitch.
- RST sew seat and seat back, trapezoid pieces, together at short parallel side. Topstitch pressing seam toward seat. These two pieces are identical.
- RST sew inside arm, on 1' 11" angles, to seat and seat back angled sides. Line up corners of inside arms with outer points of seat and seat back. Line up point of inside arms with seam between seat and seat back. Topstitch pressing seams toward inside arms. Repeat.
- RST sew top angle edge of side to inside arm 2' 10" side. Topstitch pressing seam to side panel. Repeat.
- RST sew front rectangle to long parallel side on seat. Topstitch pressing seam toward seat.
- RST sew short ends of front rectangle to short sides of sides. Topstitch pressing seams to sides.
- RST sew top of back to top of seat back. Topstitch pressing seam toward back.
- RST sew sides of back to long sides of sides. Topstitch pressing seam toward back.
- Open zipper.
- RST sew base to sides and front lining up corners first. Double stitch seam.
- Turn RSO through zipper opening.
- Fill.
-
Planet Shaped Pillow:
- Cut two circles. Sew RST 1/2" SA leaving a 3" opening to turn.
- Turn RSO, fill and hand stitch opening closed.
- Cut two ring patterns and one batting approximately 1/2" smaller than pattern on inside curves. Pin fabric RST with batting on one side. Sew together around outer circle edge catching the batting, 1/2" SA.
- Turn ring RSO. Sew 1/2" from folded edge.
- Turn under inside edges 1/2". Sew close to folded edges. Sew other concentric circles around ring.
- Place ring centered around circle pillow. One ring side facing up and one ring side facing down. Pin. Hand stitch inner circle of ring to circle pillow. If desired, tack under center of front and back to help keep the ring facing up and down.
-
Star Pillows:
- Lay fabric RST. Cut out star pattern. Pin around outside of star shape. Insert pins at points and between legs of star pointing toward center of star. These pins will provide locations to turn direction when sewing the seam allowance. Leave a 3" opening for turning.
- Sew a 1/2" SA backstitching on either side of opening. Trim points to 1/8" from stitching. Angle cut the sides of the seam allowance from the points of the star. This will reduce the bulk of fabric at the tips once the fabric is turned right side out. Cut toward the seam on the seam allowance, between the star points, so the seam will flare when turned right side out. Be careful not to cut into the seams.
- Turn RSO. Gently push out points with chopstick or dowel. Hand press out seams. Topstitch 1/4" leaving opening for filling.
- Fill. Insert fill into points first, center last. Fill last point by opening. Tuck in edges of opening. Pin to match topstitched edges. Hand press fill back 1" from pinned edge and pin to hold in place. This will flatten the section of pillow to allow for sewing on a machine. Start at point of star to topstitch opening 1/4" to match up with sides of opening.
Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:

Terrible instructions.
I still haven't gotten all the pieces to fit together. I am annoyed that there weren't any diagrams.

Chair Pattern is in the PDF Download
The directions for sewing are in the "PRINT DIRECTIONS" link.
The pattern is directly below the directions. Click "DOWNLOAD PDF"
The pattern needs to be drawn out with a ruler but there's nothing difficult to it. I use leftover gift wrapping paper for times like this, especially the paper that has a cutting grid on the backside of the wrapping paper. The grids help keep nice vertical and horizontal lines.
I haven't made this yet but am going to make it for my neighbor's aging arthritic dog. The skill level for this project is rated "Intermediate," and after reading the instructions, I gave it a 5-star rating as an intermediate project (I haven't made this yet, though). This is so cute!
