SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Parchment paper
- Microwavable bowls
- Spatulas
- Icing bags
- Toothpicks
- Foodcrafting meltable candy wafers in bright white, pink, black & green
- Mini pretzel sticks
DIRECTIONS:
- Line workstation with parchment paper and place pretzels in a spoke pattern with 1 end of all pretzels meeting in the center. Break pretzels into smaller, even pieces for a variety of web sizes.
- Melt white and black candy wafers in microwave-safe bowl for one minute at 50% power. Stir until fully melted. Fill disposable icing bags with melted candy and cut the tip. Add a dot of candy to the center of each spoke and spiral from the center out to the edges.
- To make the spiders: Repeat melting pink and green wafers and place in disposable bags. Cut a small opening and make spider legs on parchment paper. The spider legs will need to harden before you can attach to the body. For the body, make a nickel-sized dot. Once all pieces are dry use a dot of melted candy to stick legs to the body. Add little black dots for eyes.
- Attach spiders to pretzel webs with a little dot of melted candy wafer.

A Halloween treat worth creating!
Last week, I bought a bag of orange candy melts so I could try making Spider Web Treats. The recipe was fairly easy to follow but I didn't have black and white candy melts, so I used what I had in the pantry. After making the webs, I used the leftovers to make a 2D spider and housefly; however, there is a lot more to learn when it comes to piping intricate details. Overall, this treat is delicious!
