SPIDERWEB DOOR DECOR
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Spool of Cotton Cording
- Scissors
- Measuring Tape
DIRECTIONS:
- Create a loop at one end of your cording that you will use to hang one side of the finished web. Secure with a knot. Measure the width of your door and add two inches, at that width create another loop and secure with a knot. This will be the top piece of your web, which will also be used to hang the web from the door.
- Measure the height of the door from the floor to just above the top of the trim.
- Knot a piece of cording onto the top hanger piece on each side of the loops cutting the cord the measured length. These will create the sides of the web. On the bottom of each side piece of cord create another loop to secure the bottom.
- Lay the 3 pieces of cording on the ground so that the top and sides create the frame of the door.
- Choose the center point of your web along one of the sides, this is where the cording will be closer together. Knot one end of cording along the side and pull it across to the other side and knot in place. Continue creating the web shape spokes out from that center point just up or down from the last one.
- Once you have the desired spokes out from the center point start creating the cross pieces. Knot pieces of cording from spoke to spoke continuing some all the way around and some just a few spokes knotting the ends in place.
- Fill in the web as desired.
- To hang the finished web use small nails, thumb tacks or command hooks to secure the loops in each of the four corners of the door jamb.
JOANN HACKS:
- If you want the door to still be operable adjust your measurement and make the web smaller, attach by using command hooks on the outer edge of the door.
