SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Thick Cardstock (for center tube)
  • Confetti
  • Glitter
  • Sequins
  • Faux Gems
  • Faux Coins
  • Ribbon
  • Washi Tape
  • Foam Shapes or Letters
  • Scrapbooking Embellishments
  • Stickers
  • Scissors
  • Craft Paper
  • Clear Tape
  • Tissue Paper

DIRECTIONS:

  1. To create the 4" center tube, cut a piece of cardstock 4"x 5 1/2" and roll into a tube shape. Overlap approximately 1/2" and secure the tube with washi tape on the inside and outside.
  2. Lay the tube onto the edge of the tissue paper like you are wrapping it, make sure to leave 3/4" on either end of the tube opening to gather later. Tape the edge of the tissue paper with washi tape, roll to cover the entire tube and cut off leaving an extra 1" overlap. Secure the end down with decorative washi tape. Now the entire tube is covered with tissue paper and the ends have a few inches of tissue that will be gathered as handles.
  3. Gather one end of tissue and secure with ribbon at the base of the tube. Do not do the other side until you fill the tube.
  4. Fill the inside of the tube with confetti, faux coins, faux gems and other decorative elements at the open end.
  5. Gather the open end and secure with ribbon.
  6. Decorate the outside of the popper with stickers, craft paper, washi tape and adhesive letters.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Make sure the center cardstock is sturdy, if your tube is too flimsy you can double up the tissue paper to make it thicker and sturdier.
