  • Colorful Tissue Paper
  • POP!™ Black Sticky Back Foam Sheets
  • Scissors

  • 18" Piece of String or Yarn
  • *OPTIONAL: Glue Stick

  • *OPTIONAL: Hole Punch

DIRECTIONS:
Click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above for the downloadable parrot line art.
  1. Print out the parrot template & use scissors to rough cut the pattern. Tape the two pieces together.
  2. Use painter's tape to gently tack the parrot line art to the front of the black sticky foam sheet. If you use 9" x 12" foam sheets, temporarily tape two together to make a 16" x 12" surface. The tape, glue & tissue applied in the next step will hold the foam pieces together in the finished piece.
  3. Use an x-Acto® knife to cut out the interior shapes first & then cut the outside outline.
  4. Turn the foam over & peel to reveal the sticky back.
  5. Working from the reverse, add tissue paper torn or cut into various "feather" shapes. Remember to look at how new colors are made through color mixing.
  6. Use glue or glue stick to add layers of tissue paper that do not touch the foam adhesive.
  7. Hole punch & add string or yarn for hanging.
  8. Display in a sunny spot.

JOANN HACKS:
  • Add additional tissue paper "feathers" to the front.
  • Try gently curling some tissue paper for added dimension.
  • Tacky glue is kid-friendly but takes time to dry—be patient.
