Stitched Fleece Throw with Tassels

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 2yds Fleece
  • Yarn Skein
  • Basic Sewing Supplies
  • Yarn Needle
  • Fabric Marking Pen
  • 4 1/2" Cardboard Square

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut fabric to 52" x 72" rectangle.
  2. Hem all edges by turning under 1/2" then another 1/2" and stitching to create finished edge.
  3. Using the marking pen, make dots in 1" intervals on short ends as a guide to stitch with yarn
  4. Use yarn needle and stitch 4 rows 1" apart, 1" long to create stitching along short ends of blanket.
  5. Make tassels by winding yarn 22 times around a 4 1/2" piece of cardboard, tie a knot at the top and remove from the cardboard so that you have a loop that is tied on one end.
  6. Measure down about 3/4"-1" from the know and using another piece of yarn, tie around yarn to create a tassel.
  7. Cut loops to create end of tassel.
  8. Measure across the short ends approximately 7" apart to add 8 evenly spaced tassels, stitch to edge of blanket with thread making sure that they are secure.
