DIRECTIONS:
To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.

  1. Print and cut out stencil. Trace outside edge only of stencil on to adhesive vinyl. Cut out shape from vinyl (the center circle should not be cut out yet.)
  2. Cut out a large square piece of adhesive vinyl. Do not peel off backer, Place inside t-shirt to prevent dye from bleeding on to back of shirt.
  3. Cover flat surface with old sheet or newspaper to prevent dye spills. Stick adhesive sun cut-out on to front of shirt. Lay shirt on flat surface.
  4. Using squeeze bottle to drip dye over edge of adhesive cut-out. Use quick outward strokes to spread dye. Dye will pool on adhesive vinyl. Using drinking straw, gently blow dye off adhesive vinyl to spread additional dye. Dye can be spread using straws or by dripping dye from bottle. Peel adhesive vinyl off t-shirt and allow to dry 6-8 hours or as directed on dye instructions.
  5. When t-shirt is dry, cut large square or rectangle from clear adhesive vinyl. Make large enough to cover front of t-shirt. Trace inside circle from sun stencil onto center of the vinyl square. Cut out circle and stick vinyl to the front of t-shirt. Be careful to align it in center of sun shape. Apply dye to open circle using straw technique or directly from bottle. When finished peel off adhesive vinyl and allow dye to dry.
  6. Wash and dry t-shirt as directed on dye package.

JOANN HACKS:
