Stripe Square Floor Cushion

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 2 2/3yd 54" striped home decor or outdoor fabric
  • 1/3yd contrasting 54" fabric (cording)
  • 5 2/3yds 3/8" cording
  • 1 1/2-2lbs of fiberfill
  • 1 1/2yds fleece (optional)
  • Sewing machine
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

  1. 1/2" seam allowance
  2. Make a pattern for top by cutting a 26" square of paper then fold the square diagonally and diagonally again. This triangle is the pattern piece.
  3. Cut four triangles with stripes running parallel to long side.
  4. Pin two short pieces together RST matching stripes and seam.
  5. Repeat with other two triangles.
  6. RST pin both pieces and seam matching all stripes (25" square).
  7. Cut a 25" square for bottom.
  8. Add 25" squares of fleece if desired.
  9. Cut 1 3/4" bias strips to make 102".
  10. Cover cording and stitch to top then repeat on bottom square.
  11. Centering stripes, cut four sides 6"x 25".
  12. Seam all 6" sides.
  13. Add side "box" to top at cording.
  14. Add bottom square and seam leaving an 8" opening for turning.
  15. Turn and stuff.
  16. Slip stitch opening.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Adding fleece will give body to cushion.
