Striped Crochet Ottoman

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 2 Bernat Baby Velvet - Ever After Pink
  • 2 Bernat Baby Velvet - Bunny Brown
  • 1 Size I crochet hook
  • Stuffing: batting, polyfill or an old comforter/blankets you have
  • Large eyed yarn needle

DIRECTIONS: (Use two strands of yarn for project)

With 2 strands, ch 4. (Make 4 from pink and 4 from brown)
Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain from hook and in next two chains. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1 turn. (start of increase)
Row 3: 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. (5 sc). Ch 1 turn.
Row 4: 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. (7 sc). Ch 1 turn.
Row 5: 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. (9 sc). Ch l turn.
Row 6: 2 sc in first sc, 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. (11 sc). Ch 1 turn.
Rows 7 - 11: Continue increasing in first and last sc in each row until you have 19 sc. Ch 1 turn.
Row 12 - 14: Hdc in each sc to end of row. (19 hdc). Ch 1 turn.
Row 15 - Double crochet in first hdc and in each hdc to end (19 dbl) Ch 1 turn.
Row 16 - 39: Repeat row 15 until you have 25 rows of double crochet. (19 dbl crochet) Ch 1 turn.
Row 40 - (start to decrease) insert needle into first dbl, pull up loop, leave on needle. Insert needle into next dbl, yo and pull through loops on needle. Sc in each dbl to last 2 dbl and work a decrease into last 2 stitches. (17 sc). Ch 1 turn.
Row 41 - decrease in first 2 sc. Sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Decrease in last 2 sc. (15 sc). Ch 1 turn.
Row 42 - decrease in first 2 sc. Sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Decrease in last 2 sc. (13 sc). Ch 1 turn.
Continue decrease in first and last 2 sc until you have 3 sc.
Last row, sc in each of the 3 sc. Fasten off.

Make 8 strips. With WST, pin edge in place and sc long edge using 1 of each color of yarn together. Sc all strips, alternating colors until the 8 have been sc together. Sc the last strip to the first leaving an opening for stuffing.
Thread one of each color in needle and gather top and bottom of pouf. Go around a few times to secure and to strengthen ends.
Stuff firmly and sc opening closed.
