Sunshine Cup Cozy

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• 1 Each ANCHOR Stitchable Felt™ Sheets (red & white)
• Cotton embroidery floss (coral, yellow, pink, black and white)
• Large-eye tapestry needle
• Scissors
• Wave decorative scissors
• Elastic cord - 6"
• Large button - about 7/8"
• Insulated take-along cup
• ANCHOR Stitchable Felt™ Sheets - 9"x 12" sheets with 7 holes/inch (available in 8 colors)

DIRECTIONS:

1. Follow the cross-stitch chart using 6 strands of embroidery floss to create the sun on the white felt.



2. Cut the long edges of the white felt with wave scissors to create a decorative edge. Cut the red felt slightly wider to leave a border.



3. Sew the elastic cord into a loop on one end of the red felt.



4. Layer the white felt on top of the red felt. Sew cross stitches with pink floss through both layers to hold the layers together.



5. Sew the large button through both layers of felt on the opposite end from the elastic loop.



6. Place finished cozy around take-along cup and loop the elastic cord around the button to complete.

Stitching on stitchable felt

Cross Stitch

1. Each crossed stitch is placed over a square of the perforated felt following chart.
2. Bring needle out at A, reinsert at B, out at C and in at D. Repeat for as many stitches as needed. To work the crossing stitch in the other direction, bring needle out at E and reinsert at B and repeat for all stitches.

Backstitch

1. Follow the chart for the direction of the backstitch, bringing needle up at one end of square and down at other side of square. To print the chart, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).
2. For continuous row of backstitches bring needle out at A, insert needle at B and out again at C. Continue working from right to left.
