SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Assorted Fall Cardstock
  • White Cardstock
  • 1 Sheet of Burlap Cardstock
  • Cricut Machine
  • Design Space
  • Small Sticky Foam Squares
  • Scissors
  • Paper Glue
  • Sharpie Marker

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In Design Space, download a greeting card template with an open window on the front of the card.
  2. In Design Space you can modify the opening window on the front of the card.
  3. To do this: Click on "shapes" and select a square and a circle.
  4. Size the circle and square to make the opening for the front of the card.
  5. Move it to the side of your creating space and slice the 2 together. By doing this you will create the rectangle part and the half oval of the opening. Overlap the two shapes and weld them together.
  6. Lay that cut shape on top of the front of the greeting card and then slice again. This will slice out the front opening of the card.
  7. Use that shape again to cut out the sun for the front of the card.
  8. On your Cricut you can create long, rectangular strips of the assorted fall-colored cardstock.  This will be for the rays coming out behind the sun.
  9. Cut the card shape out and score it. Cut out the burlap to go on the inside of the front of the card and glue in place. Cut and glue or attach with foam tape the rays going behind the sun. Trim off excess cardstock with your scissors. Attach the sun on top of the rays to hide the edges.
  10. With your Sharpie marker and white cardstock create the phrase for the caption quotes.
  11. Glue them to the card without using the foam squares.

JOANN HACKS:

  • To make the rays line up, attach them to the back of the sun before mounting the sun to the front of the card.
