DIRECTIONS:
- To print the patterns, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above). Enlarge patterns.
- Cut two scalloped circles from the mustard blizzard fleece. Cut one 12" circle from the pale yellow blizzard fleece. Cut 2 eyes and a mouth from the black blizzard fleece. Cut 2 cheek circles from the pink blizzard fleece.
- Pin the pale yellow circle to a scalloped circle, centering the circle. Sew around the edge of the inner circle using a zigzag stitch and matching thread.
- Pin face piece to the pale yellow circle. Sew around edges using a straight stitch and matching thread.
- Place the scalloped circles right sides together, matching scallops. Pin well and sew around leaving one scallop open for turning and stuffing.
- Clip points between each scallop to reduce bulk.
- Turn pillow right side out.
- Stuff with fiberfill stuffing, making sure to fill each scallop.
- Close the last scallop by turning the seam allowances in, pinning and hand stitching shut.
Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:
- When cutting the scalloped circles, cut the two together and mark a matching scallop on each with a pin or disappearing fabric marker. This allows for slight variation among the scallops when cutting and ensures that your scallops will line up nicely when you go to sew them together.
- Use a washable glue stick to glue small face pieces to the pillow before sewing to prevent shifting while sewing.
- Before sewing around the scallops, stay stitch one scallop on each circle (choose ones that match) using a scant 1/4" seam allowance and a basting stitch. Leave this scallop as your open scallop for stuffing. When hand stitching the pillow closed, these basting lines will act as a guide for folding the seam allowance in.
- Use a Hera Marker tool to round out edges of the scallops when turning, without poking holes through your seams.
