Superhero Cape

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• 1 1/2 yds main color satin fabric
• 3/4 yd contrast color satin fabric
• Gold stretch fabric
• Heat n' Bond
• Hook and loop tape
• 1/4" elastic
• Sewing machine
• Iron
• Basic sewing supplies
• Pattern

DIRECTIONS:

1. To print the patterns, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above). Enlarge patterns.
2. Cut lining and stripe pattern pieces out of main and contrast color fabric.
3. Apply Heat n' Bond to the wrong side of the gold fabric.
4. Cut out star shapes using pattern.
5. Sew stripes together using 1/4" seam allowance. Press flat.
6. Cut two pieces of elastic, each 3" long. Fold elastic in half to form a loop and pin elastic in the bottom side corner of the cape on the right side.
7. With right sides together, match the lining to the outside. Pin then sew, catching the elastic loops in the seam and leaving a small opening to turn cape right-side out. Clip curves then turn cape right-side out. Press well.
8. Layout stars on the back of the cape, Heat n' Bond side down. Adhere to cape using the manufacturer's instructions.
9. Stitch a 1" piece of hook and loop tape at each end of the neck.
