DIRECTIONS:
- Prepare your cake pop filling. You'll need to start with a cake that has been baked and cooled already. If you haven't done this, take the time to do this now. Once your cake is baked and cooled, place it into a large bowl, and scoop 3 tablespoons of buttercream frosting into the bowl. Mix this all together until thoroughly combined. At this point, the mixture should hold its shape well. If it is still crumbly, add more buttercream until it has reached the correct consistency.
- Now it is time to shape your easter eggs! Scoop out your cake pop mix with an ice cream scoop to make sure every ball is the same size, and start shaping them into eggs. Start by rolling each scoop into a ball with your hands, and then elongate the ball on one side slightly, creating the smaller top side of an egg shape. Use the pictures provided for a reference if needed.
- Once you've finished shaping your cake pops, let them sit in the refrigerator to sit for about 20 minutes to chill.
- After your cake pops have chilled, prepare your sticks and your bright white melt'ems. Heat your melt'ems in a microwave safe bowl according to the instructions on the back of the bag. Once your melt'ems are melted and smooth, dip the tip of your cake pop stick in the melt'ems, then insert the dipped stick into the bottom of one of your egg cake pops. This will add extra support for later. Once your cake pop is securely on the stick, set aside, and repeat for your remaining cake pops.
- Once each cake pop has been secured to their stick, it is time to fully coat the cake pops. Stir your bright white Melt'ems to make sure they are still warm and smooth. If not, put them back in the microwave for 15-30 seconds. If they are, start dipping. While holding the stick, dunk the egg completely under, and lift out of the melt'ems. Let the excess drip off, and slowly spin your cake pop to ensure the excess drips off smoothly. If you have a tall glass, a cake pop stand, or some way to let them dry vertically without touching anything, let them dry there. If not, place on a cookie sheet on some wax paper off to the side and try to have the egg portion touch down as little as possible. Repeat this process for all of your cake pops.
- Once you've finished dunking your cake pops, it's time to chill again. Pop your pops into the fridge for another 20-30 minutes.
- After your eggs have completely cooled and set-up, you can decorate the outsides! Prepare your Sweetshop melts in yellow, light pink, light blue, vibrant green, and lavender, and scoop them into your piping bags. Once your piping bags are all prepared, cut just a tiny bit off the end of your bag, and get to decorating. On the sticks, your eggs will be easy to decorate from every angle, however you'd like.
- Once your eggs are all decorated, don't forget to pop them back in the fridge for another 10 minutes. This will make sure your designs are preserved long enough for everyone to see how cute they are.
