DIRECTIONS:
- :
- Trim a piece of white Cardstock into five pieces with the following measurements: 4 1/4"x 5 1/2", 4"x 5 1/2", 4"x 5", 4"x 5" and 3/4"x 2.75".
- On the two pieces that measure 4"x 5" you will be stamping the waves. To do this, place the white Cardstock in a stamp positioning tool. Stamp the first layer with Pool Party Reactive Ink, then stamp the second layer with Blue Hawaii Reactive Ink. Make sure to leave about 1/2" of white Cardstock along the straight side of the stamp that will be needed to make the tri-fold element of the card.
- Die cut the wave using the coordinating Frame Cut or you can also trim it out by hand with scissors.
- Create a score line along the straight side of each wave, leaving a 1/2" white "flap" that you will fold behind. The waves will become the outside two flaps of the tri-fold design.
- For the middle panel of the card, grab the 4"x 5 1/2" piece of white Cardstock. Determine where the height of the waves will go on this panel and mask off that area with masking tape.
- Use a blending brush and Reactive Inks to create the gradient of color on the top portion of the panel. Start with Lemon Drop ink along your masked line, then move onto Creamsicle ink and finish off with Taffy ink. Be sure to overlap the colors to achieve the best blend. Remove masking tape.
- Use a water bottle to lightly spritz water over the ink-blended area and then blot up with a paper towel. Because these inks react with water, the ink is lifted from these areas, creating a cool water droplet background.
- Next, you will adhere the stamped wave pieces to the ink blended panel. To do this, apply double-sided adhesive on the backside of each white flap and wrap around the panel, creating the outside two flaps of the tri-fold card.
- Then adhere to the 4 1/4"x 5 1/2" piece of white Cardstock. This panel serves as the back of the card and helps to hide the flaps on the backside of the center panel.
- Stamp the sentiment using black ink on the 3/4"x 2 3/4" piece of white Cardstock. Adhere to card with foam adhesive.
JOANN HACKS:
- Instead of a pink and yellow sky, create a sandy beach background using brown inks.
- To create a more intense background using a blending brush, just keep applying more layers of ink.
