DIRECTIONS:
STITCH EXPLANATION:inv-dec (invisible single crochet decrease) Insert hook in front loop only of each of next 2 sts, yarn over and draw through both sts, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook - 1 st decreased.
NOTES:
Bear is worked in 9 pieces: Body/Head, 2 Arms, 2 Legs, 2 Ears, Bow, and Tail.
All pieces are worked in rnds.
Facial features are embroidered.
Pieces are sewn together and stuffed.
Exact gauge is not essential for this project. We worked tightly with a small hook so that stuffing wouldn't show through.
BODY/HEAD:
Body
Beg at lower end of body, ch 2.
Rnd 1 (RS): Work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook; do not join, work in continuous rnds (spiral).
Place a marker in last st made to indicate end of rnd. Move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around - you’ll have 16 sc in this rnd.
Rnd 3: * Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around - 24 sc.
Rnd 4: * Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around - 32 sc.
Rnd 5: * Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around - 40 sc.
Rnd 6: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 7: * Sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around - 48 sc.
Rnd 8: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 9: * Sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around - 56 sc.

Head

Rnds 41-52: Sc in each st around.

Stuff head firmly.
Attach safety eyes to Head between Rnds 48 and 49 about 6 sts apart.
Rnd 58: * Sc in next st, inv-dec; rep from * around - 16 sc.
Rnd 59: (Inv-dec) 8 times - 8 sc.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Thread tail onto blunt needle and sew opening at top of head closed.
With scrap of black yarn, and using photograph as a guide, embroider eyebrows, nose, and mouth on face.
BOW:
Ch 16.
Rnd 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; join with sl st in first sc - 15 sc.
Rnds 2 and 3: Ch 1, sc in each st around; join with sl st in first sc.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for wrapping and sewing.
Fold bow circle in half with sl st join in center.
Wrap long ending tail around center of Bow 5 times.
Thread tail onto blunt needle and sew a few sts into center of Bow to secure then sew bow to bear’s neck.
LEGS (make 2):
Beg at lower end (foot) of leg, ch 2.
Rnd 1 (RS): Work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook; do not join, work in continuous rnds (spiral).
Place a marker in last st made to indicate end of rnd. Move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around - 16 sc.
Rnd 3: * Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around; JOIN with a sl st in first sc - 24 sc.
Continue to move end of rnd marker up.
Rnd 4: Working in back loops only, sc in each st around; do not join, work in continuous rnds (spiral).
Rnds 5-15: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 16: * Sc in next 4 sts, inv-dec; rep from * around - 20 sc.
Rnds 17-25: Sc in each st around.
Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing.
ARMS (make 2):
Beg at lower end (paw) of arm, ch 2.
Rnd 1 (RS): Work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook; do not join, work in continuous rnds (spiral).
Place a marker in last st made to indicate end of rnd. Move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around - 16 sc.

Continue to move end of rnd marker up.
Rnd 4: Working in back loops only, sc in each st around; do not join, work in continuous rnds (spiral).

FINISHING:
Stuff arms and legs and sew to body. Attach arms in a vertical position and legs horizontally, in a seated position.
Secure mid-section of legs to body with a few stitches.
Sew tail to lower back of body; stuffing before closing.
Sew ears to head.
Weave in ends.
