Advanced Weekend Project

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 yd each of 7 coordinating fabrics
  • 1/4 yd fabric for binding
  • 3 yd fabric for back
  • 3 1/2 yd batting
  • Matching thread
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron & ironing surface

DIRECTIONS:

    Note: 48"x 80" quilt is made from four 24"x 40" blocks.
    Add 1/2" to each pattern piece for 1/4" seam allowance.
  1. From each fabric, cut four pieces 4 1/2"x WOF and four pieces 3 1/2"x WOF.
  2. Refer to pattern and cut pieces #1 and #2.
  3. With RST, sew piece #1 and #2 together with a 1/4" seam.
  4. Refer to pattern and cut piece #3; sew to above piece.
  5. Following the pattern's numbered pieces, continue sewing the block together.
  6. Repeat making a total of four 24"x 40" blocks.
  7. Sew the blocks together into 48"x 80" quilt top.
  8. Cut batting 49"x 81".
  9. Cut backing 49"x 81".
  10. Layer backing, batting and quilt top; pin or baste.
  11. Quilt as desired.
  12. Cut eight binding strips 3"x WOF; sew ends together.
  13. Bind quilt.
