SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Cardboard
  • X-Acto® blade
  • Templates
  • Decorative materials: paint, foam, fluff paint, décor tube mesh

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Using the provided templates, cut the shapes from cardboard for each animal.
  2. Add interest to sections by peeling away the outer layer of cardboard and revealing the ribbed inner layer.
  3. Assemble the pieces to create a 3D animal shape using the photos as a reference.
  4. Paint each animal with acrylic paint. Paint in light coats as to not over saturate the cardboard. Apply additional coats as needed.
  5. Depending on the animal you can use an array of products to bring out its features. Add fluffy paint for texture, use foam sheets for fins, tube mesh for tentacles. Experiment with craft supplies to add textures and details, depending on the animal you are working with.

JOANN HACKS:

  • If the slits are made bigger than you intend, you may need to secure the pieces with hot glue.
