Upcycled Camp Chairs

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • Rotary Cutter & Cutting Board
  • Quilters Ruler
  • Pins or fabric clips
  • 2 yds. - Outdoor fabric print
  • 2 yds. - Lining in cotton or solid matching background of print. (printed lining might show through to front when sewn together)
  • Adjust fabric needed for the size of your chairs.

DIRECTIONS:
NOTE: Our finished chair seat is 21" x 17 1/2" and back is 21" x 8 1/4"
Directions are written for 2 chairs.
  1. Take your old seat and back off of chair and substitute your measurements to project. Make sure your measurements include pocket opening. Use our sewing directions to put yours back together.
  2. Cut 2 each - 26" x 18 1/2" outdoor fabric for seat and lining. This includes the pocket for slipping over sides.
  3. Cut 2 each - 27" x 9 1/4" for outdoor fabric for back of chair and lining. This will include the extra fabric for pocket.
  4. With wrong sides together, baste the seat fabric and lining along outside edge.
  5. With wrong sides together, baste the back fabric of chair and lining along outside edge.
  6. For seat, press under 1/4" along long edges, and fold again 1/4" and press.
  7. Top stitch along fold 1/4" from edge.
  8. Press the short sides in 1/4" and press, and fold under 1 1/2" and press.
  9. Stitch along fold, and again 1/4" from that stitching ending with a pocket for slipping over chair.
  10. For back, press under 1/4" along long edges, and fold again 1/4" and press.
  11. Top stitch along fold 1/4" from edge.
  12. Press the short sides in 1/4" and press, and fold under again 2 1/2" and press.
  13. Stitch along fold, and again 1/4" from that stitching ending with a pocket for slipping over back of chair.
