SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 1 Record player
- 2 Yards of cotton fabric
- X-Acto® knife
- Sharp scissors
- Metal straight edge ruler
- Mod Podge matte finish
- Small paintbrush
- Medium paintbrush
- Painters tape
DIRECTIONS:
- Unscrew all of the hardware on the record player, remove any pieces you do not wish to cover with fabric, if possible. If not possible to remove, use painters tape and plastic to tape off areas.
- Lay the fabric reverse side up on a flat surface.
- Lay the lid onto the reverse side of the fabric in the center.
- Measure the fabric to make sure it will go across the back and up both sides of the lid. Cut this piece out and set aside.
- Do the same with the bottom of the player.
- Tipping the lid to one side, apply Mod Podge to the back of the lid. Set it down onto the fabric so it sticks to the fabric. With your hand, smooth out the fabric on the lid.
- Flip the lid over and apply Mod Podge to the sides and press the fabric to the sides.
- Apply Mod Podge to the inside of the sides. Cut the fabric at the corners and press the fabric in place.
- Measure and cut a piece of fabric for the inside of the lid. Apply Mod Podge to the inside of the lid and place the fabric onto the wet Mod Podge. Smooth out the fabric and cut away any loose threads of excess fabric.
- Repeat this process to the bottom of the record player. You will need to use an X-Acto® knife and metal straight edge ruler to cut around any openings on the record player.
- Let the top and bottom completely dry before reassembling the hardware on the record player.
JOANN HACKS:
- When you are doing the corners, make sure the fabric is glued in place up to reaching the corners. Use a pencil and draw a thin line on the fabric in the corners. Peel back the fabric off of the glue so that you have room to cut a straight line with your scissors for the inside corners and then reattach the glued fabric in place.
