SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Jeans
- Scallop Template
- Disappearing Ink Pen
- Piece of Scrap Cardboard
- Fabric Paint, White
- Paintbrush
DIRECTIONS:
To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.- Iron the jeans if needed for a smooth work surface. Space the three scallop sizes along the side seam of the jeans evenly, removing a scallop or tracing an extra scallop if needed. Trace the template onto the jeans with the disappearing ink pen.
- Cut a piece of scrap cardboard into a thin long rectangle you can place behind your painted surface inside the jean to keep any of the paint from bleeding onto the back side.
- Paint the traced shape along the seams of the jeans. Allow to dry.
- Paint a total of 2-3 coats.
JOANN HACKS:
- A filbert paintbrush is helpful for painting the curve of the scallop, these are the flat paintbrushes with hair rounded into an oval shape.
- Painting with a slightly more watery paint for the first coat of paint on the scallop helps to achieve a smoother painted curve.
