Velvet Pillows

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Two 18"x 18" base pillows forms
  • 19" of velvet fabric (18" pillow)
  • 19" of contrasting velvet fabric (18" pillow)
  • One 16"x 16" base pillows form
  • 17" of contrasting velvet fabric (16" pillow)
  • 1/2 yd of contrasting velvet fabric (bolster pillow)
  • 1/2 yd of each contrasting fabric (rectangle pillow)
  • Two bags of stuffing
  • Sewing notions

DIRECTIONS:

    All seams are 1/2" unless stated.
    18" pillow
  1. Cut one 19"x 19" square of velvet fabric for one 18" pillow. Cut two 19"x 12 1/2" for the back envelope pillow. Sew a turn and turn hem on one side each of the two 12 1/2" pieces. Place the two 12 1/2" pieces to the top pillow, overlapping to fit. Sew the seams together, trim corners and turn right side out.
  2. 18" pillow: Repeat the same instructions for the other 18"x 18" out of other contrasting fabric.

    16"x 16" pillow:
  1. Cut one 17"x 17" square of contrasting velvet fabric. Cut two 17"x 11 1/2" for the back envelope pillow. Sew a turn and turn hem on one side each of the two 11 1/2" pieces. Place the two 11 1/2" pieces to the top pillow, overlapping to fit. Sew the seams together, trim corners and turn right side out.

    Bolster pillow:
  1. One piece 17 1/2"x 21". Cut two squares 7"x 7". Fold fabric into quarters and round the corners to make a complete circle. Sew the two 17 1/2" seams together leaving a 6" opening to stuff. Pin then sew circles to the ends. Stuff pillow to desired fullness, hand stitch opening closed.

    2 rectangle pillows:
  1. Cut 17"x 24" for each pillow. Fold in half, sew the 17" seam together, leaving a 6" opening for stuffing. Sew ends closed, turn right side out. Stuff softly, hand stitch closed.
