Visible Mended Patches

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Denim or cotton fabric
• DMC Size 5 Pearl Cotton ball
• Embroidery needle
• Ruler
• Scissors
• Iron & ironing board
• Chalk pencil
• Safety pins

DIRECTIONS:

1. Cut fabric patches to size and shaped needed to cover the area you are mending. Add 1/2" to all sizes to accommodate folding under the raw edges.
2. Fold under edges 1/2" and press with iron. Pin patch flat to area using safety pins. Use as many pins are needed to secure that patch as you sew.
3. If desired, plan out and mark embroidery design using chalk pencil. Embroider design with pearl cotton thread using a running stitch. Secure edges of the patch using a whip stitch, blanket stitch or running stitch close to the edge.
