Warm Blanket with Dimensional Flowers

DIRECTIONS:

To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
  1. Cut 1 rectangle from floral fleece and 1 rectangle from solid fleece 54" x 65".
  2. With wrong sides together, baste fleece rectangles together all the way around the outside edge.
  3. For bias binding, cut 2 rectangles from satin 11" x 59 1/2" on the bias.
  4. Cut 2 rectangles from satin 11" x 70 1/2" on the bias.
  5. Place Template A on the end of each satin rectangle and cut to create the angles for mitered corners. See Diagram 1.
  6. With right sides together, pin the end of one short satin strip to the end of one of the long satin strips.
  7. Sew from dot to dot marked on Pattern Template A. Repeat for the other three corners.
  8. Turn each corner right side out and press flat.
  9. The length of each side of bias binding will be folded in half.
  10. Fold in 1/2" along each side of the raw edge of the bias binding.
  11. Place fleece portion of the blanket between the open edges of bias binding and pin binding in place.
  12. Binding should overlap fleece by approximately 1/2".
  13. Top stitch in place.
  14. Cut 33 Template B from dark pink flannel, 33 from dark purple chiffon, and 99 from pink chiffon.
  15. Layer one flannel piece, then one dark purple chiffon piece and tack together at center.
  16. Fold 1 pink chiffon piece in half and then in half again to create dimensional petals.
  17. Tack layers in place at center of flannel and chiffon flower and repeat 2 more times for a total of 3 pink chiffon petals per flower.
  18. Tack flower in place through both layers of fleece over a printed flower.
  19. Repeat for remaining 32 flowers.
