SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- McCall's 7718 View C and D
- View C 9 yds. White Fabric, For Gown
- View D 9 1/2 yds. Pearl/Sequin Net Overskirt Train and Arm Drape
- Notions Given on Pattern Envelope
- Thread
- Sewing Notions
DIRECTIONS:
NOTE: All seams are 5/8" unless stated.- Follow gown instructions for View C. Cut on view B to eliminate the train.
- Use View D for the arm drape and train. The train and arm drape are removable by hand sewing arm drape to bodice, train is a separate skirt. Attach the arm drape by turning under the seam allowance, hand stitch in place at the marking for the placement for straps.
- Sew the train as instructed, not attaching to the waist. Cut a narrow 1 3/4 wide, length of waist plus 2" waistband out of sheer netting, attach it to the waist, leaving a 9" opening at the center back. Leave a 1" to each side of center back seam. Fold waistband in half, sew to waist and fold over again then top stitch down.
- Fold over the extra 1" at the center back on left side to attach 2 hooks. Fold over 1/2" on the right side, extending 1/2" to attach the 2 eyes for closure.
JOANN HACKS:
- Trim off pearls and beading close to the seam allowances. Use a one sided zipper foot when sewing to get close peals and beading.
- Eliminate serging seams, as too much thread may show through by sewing a second seam close to the first seam then trimming excess seam allowance. French seams may not be a good choice when fabric has sequins or pearls.
