White decorator icing stiff
I'm so surprised that a wonderful company like Wilton has such an awful product! I'm new to decorating but I know it isn't supposed to smell or taste like this. So disappointed that I couldn't make an attempt at a Day of the Dead birthday cake for today, especially since I used my last cake mix and didn't notice the smell until I was crumb coating it. Maybe this is a sign I should try another skill set and leave the decorating to professionals lol.

Read the reviews, and here is what I did!
Okay, so after reading all 10 (only 10, I thought that in of itself, was crazy) reviews and knowing I had to start a baby shower cake but wanted to get some last minute tips... but didn't have time to go back to the store... I needed to proceed.
So here is what I did after reviewing the not so good reviews.
Upon opening the cannister, it DID smell like Play Doh. That would absolutely be something Wilton should instant fix. In a big hurry, too.
I thought I purchased 3 of the STIFF frosting, but had just 2 of the stiff and 1 of the MEDIUM. Which brings me to the update for the person who thought they only made the small cannisters of the STIFF version. They do, in fact, make the MEDIUM version in the small container, as well. So that's good to know.
For the consistency:
My goal for purchasing the STIFF was for the soul reason of trying to get as close to FONDANT as possible. I am not a fondant fan, but I do know the value of using it. Especially in high end cakes. So as far as the STIFF version goes... even with the Play Doh smell....boy oh boy is it good. It smooths out with a little hot water on your icer. As far as the medium consistency went, ehhhh.... wasn't all that impressed. The cheaper versions are just as good... BUT NOT AS WHITE, which was a nice plus for Wilton.
As far as TASTE goes: I was going more for LOOKS and APPEARANCE and not so much taste (just like fondant, right?) Here is what I chose to do. I used 2 of the Wilton STIFF frosting and mixed it with a Duncan Hines Cheesecake Frosting (the whipped one) and it certainly made the taste better! But... still a 2 out of 10 for the original Wilton product. They really need to get on that.
I hope this helps. I hardly ever write reviews, but I thought this might be helpful since I just now made a cake with this very product.
I am super happy with how the cake looks. But we will find out tomorrow at the shower how many people will actually eat the frosting! Believe me, my eyes will be watching! ;-)

So Embarrassing
I bought this product for a birthday cake and it made beautiful flowers but the taste ruined the cake. It taste like chemicals and smells bad also. How in the world can this be a Wilton product??!!! This should be for practice only and not consumption!!! Just awful!!!! I would give this 0 stars if i could!!

Definitely not stiff!
I bought this to make roses. I added Wilton red food coloring and then put it into a piping bag. I followed the directions on the wilton rose making video (which recommended using this frosting). The roses did set in the freezer, but once taken out they began melting and drooping within minutes.

Wilton icing
Returned unopened after horrible taste of white medium icing. Tasted like lard. Never trust Wilton products again.

I will never buy Wilton icing again.
It tastes like playdough and smells like it too! Ruined a birthday cake for my nephew. The chemical taste is still lingering in my mouth, making me nauseous. Don't waste your time or money! Buy from pillsbury!

Good for decorating not eating
The taste of this is terrible. I have three huge tubs left that I'm just going to throw away!!! I was so embarrassed serving them not realizing how bad it tasted, but I guess I should have realized from the horrendous smell once I opened the tub. So disappointing.
