SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

- Fat Quarter of Printed Cotton
- 1/2 yard of Heavy Linen Duck Cloth
- Light Weight Fusible Web
- 44" Long Purse Strap
- D-Rings, 2
- Rotary Cutter, Mat, and Ruler
- Iron
- Sewing Machine and Thread to Match
- Templates A and B (see GET PATTERNS tab)
DIRECTIONS:
To print the templates, click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.- Cut (1) 10"x 12" rectangle from the printed cotton and (1) 10"x 12" rectangle from the duck cloth. Fuse the two layers, wrong sides together.
- Cut (1) 5"x 12" rectangle of faux leather. With right sides together, sew faux leather to bottom of fused cotton and duck cloth rectangle along the 12" length using 1/2" seam allowance. Press seam allowance toward faux leather. Top stitch along faux leather 1/8" away from seam, then another row of top stitching 1/4" away from first row.
- With right sides together, sew side seam together to create a cylinder. Cut (1) Template A from faux leather. With right sides together, sew Template A to the bottom of the cylinder using 3/8" seam allowance and gently easing around the curve to avoid creases in the faux leather. Turn right side out.
- Cut (1) 13 3/4"x 12" rectangle and (1) Template A from duck cloth to create lining. Fold large rectangle in half and sew side seam along 13 3/4" length using 3/8" seam allowance. Sew Template A to bottom of cylinder using 3/8" seam allowance.
- Lining up side seams, insert lining into the wine bottle holder. Cut (1) 2 1/2"x 12" rectangle of faux leather. Fold over one short end of faux leather 1/2", line fold up with side seam and the 12" length to the raw edge of bottle holder, right sides together. Lay tail of faux leather strip over folded edge at the starting point. Sew top binding to top of holder using 3/8" seam allowance. Fold binding to inside of holder capturing raw edges of seam allowance and creating an even 1/2" binding along the top of the holder. Top stitch 1/8" away from seam. Trim excess binding from inside, leaving 1/8" beyond the row of top stitching.
- Cut (2) 2 1/2"x 4" strips of faux leather to create D-ring loops. Fold both 4" lengths of each D-right loop to the wrong side, with cut edges meeting in the middle. Top stitch 1/8" in along each fold. Using Template B placement guide, sew one end of each D-ring loop to the inside of holder. Place D-ring on loop strip. Bring loops to the outside, fold under 1/2" and sew in place 1/8" away from fold and then 1/4" away from first row of stitching.
- Attach purse strap to D-rings.

I made these Jan. 2023 for Wine Party. They have names on them. I altered the pattern. Taller & wider. Not for a beginner sewer.
