SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 6 turned wood ornaments
- hildie + jo™ wood beads, 400 count
- 2oz white acrylic paint
- 1/2" flat artist's brush
- Palette
- 2 embroidery needles
- Embroidery floss
- Scissors
- Pencil
DIRECTIONS:
- Determine areas to be painted white on turned wood ornaments. Alternate sections between painted and natural wood. Mark light pencil lines around the curves of the ornaments to use as guidelines for painting.
- Paint the ornaments with the white paint. Let dry. Cut the ribbon hangers off the ornaments and discard.
- Determine the distance desired between the ornaments. Select an assortment of beads that when laid side by side will fill out the length.
- Thread embroidery floss on to needle, double thickness. Use a length two times the length of the final garland plus extra for loop hangers at the ends.
- Place the first bead on to the floss. Wrap the cut ends of floss around the bead and around the floss on the opposite side of the bead. Thread a second needle on to the cut ends of the floss. Take the needle back through the bead from the same side as the first pass through. Make a loop of the floss to the length of the desired hanger. Pass the needle back through the bead. Knot the loop close to the bead. Cut off the ends of the floss close to the bead. This will keep the cut ends of floss inside the bead.
- String the beads alternating with turned ornaments.
- Finish the end of the garland with a loop hanger same as the start.
