Wood House Pencil Holders

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Unfinished wood pencil holders
• Acrylic craft paint
• Paintbrush
• Damp cloth
• Painters tape
• Craft knife

DIRECTIONS:

1. Select paint colors.
2. Use various widths of painters tape to mask areas that will not be painted, such as doors and windows on front and back of wood house.
3. Apply acrylic paint over tape. Remove tape.
4. Paint sides of house in contrasting color. If desired, tape off doors and fill in with contrasting paint color. Remove tape.

JOANN HACKS:

• If mixing paints, mix enough for entire project and touchups, so paint matching is not required.

Stained Desktop Organizers with Painted Accents

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Unfinished wood desktop organizers
• Interior wood stain
• Acrylic craft paint
• Paintbrush
• Dry and damp cloth
• Painters tape
• Craft knife

DIRECTIONS:

1. Tape off areas to be painted.
2. Apply stain with dry cloth. Remove tape. Allow stain to dry completely.
3. Sharpen stain edges by removing excess stain with a craft knife. Gently scrape away unwanted stain.
4. Apply paint to desired areas with paintbrush. Remove any paint smears immediately with damp cloth.

JOANN HACKS:

• Dark stains can be reapplied to touch up uneven edges of lighter colored paint.
