Note: Pattern is written for smallest size with changes for larger sizes in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow pattern more easily, circle all numbers pertaining to your size before beginning.

GAUGE:
4 sts + 6 rows = about 4" over St st (k on RS, p on WS).

DIRECTIONS:

Stitch Explanation:
ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them tog - 1 st decreased.

Notes:
Body of Vest is worked in one piece, back and forth in rows, to armholes. Piece is then divided and fronts and back worked separately up to shoulders.
Yarn color is changed to work Garter st (k every st of every row) stripes along lower part of Body.
A circular needle is used to accommodate sts. Work back and forth in rows on the circular needle as if working on straight needles.
When you see work ‘even’ in the instructions, this means to continue in the pattern st you have established without changing the st count by increasing, decreasing, or binding off.

Note:
If you don’t have a stitch holder large enough to accommodate stitches made with this yarn, use multiple st holders to hold one group of sts or use a length of scrap yarn.

Finishing
Armhole Bands
From RS with B, pick up and knit sts as evenly spaced as possible around one armhole.

Note
If you pick up too few sts, the armhole edge of the Vest will begin to gather; if too few sts, the armhole edge will stretch out. You may need to make a few tries before determining the perfect number of sts to pick up!

Purl 1 row.
Bind off, leaving a long tail for sewing edges of armhole band together.

Rep around 2nd armhole, picking up the same number of sts as you picked up around first armhole.

Join Shoulders
Place left front shoulder sts from holder on one tip of needle and left back shoulder sts on the opposite needle tip.
Bend the cord of the needle and hold the 2 tips of the needle together, with WS of shoulders together, RS facing out.

Thread blunt needle with one of the yarn ends and work as follows:_x000B_1. Insert needle as if to purl into first st on front piece. Insert needle as if to knit into first st on back piece. Pull yarn through, leaving sts on needles.
2. Insert needle as if to knit through first st on front needle and let the st drop from needle.
3. Insert needle into 2nd st on front needle as if to purl and pull the yarn through, leaving st on the needle.
4. Insert needle into first st on back needle as if to purl and let it drop from the needle.
5. Insert needle as if to knit through 2nd st on back needle and pull the yarn through, leaving st on needle.
Rep steps 2-5 until all sts are gone. When finished, adjust tension as necessary. Weave in ends.
Using tail still attached to armhole band, sew edges of armhole band together to complete shoulder seam.

Rep to join right shoulder.

Neck Band
From RS with B, pick up and knit sts as evenly spaced as possible along right front edge, k11 back neck sts from holder, pick up and knit sts evenly spaced along left front edge, picking up the same number of sts as you picked up along right front edge.
