SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 1/2 yds black print cotton fabric
  • 1 yd print fabric
  • 3/4 yd print for fussy cut squares
  • 1 1/4 yds fabric for backing
  • 1/2 yd fabric for binding
  • 45" x 45" piece of batting
  • Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Iron and pressing surface
  • Sewing machine

DIRECTIONS:

  1. 43" x 43" Quilt
  2. Read all instructions before cutting and sewing.
  3. Use accurate 1/4" seams
  4. From black print cut 25 - 5 1/2" squares. Cut 5 - 8 3/8" squares and 2 - 4 1/2" squares.
  5. Cut the 8 3/8" squares twice diagonally following Diagram A for the 20 side triangles.
  6. Cut the 4 1/2" squares diagonally once following Diagram B for the 4 corner triangles.
  7. From print cut 23 - 5 1/2" squares.
  8. From second print fussy cut 13 - 5 1/2" squares. Depending on fabric design you may have to adjust the fabric amount you will need.
  9. Refer to Diagram C for placement and sew pieces together into rows.
  10. Press odd rows to the right and even rows to the left so the seams will nest.
  11. Sew rows together in numerical order. Press.
  12. Sandwich backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt as desired.
  13. Trim and bind quilt.

Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:

  • Using a 5 1/2" square ruler or template is helpful for the fussy pieces. You can place it on the fabric and see the specific area of the print that you want to use before cutting.
