SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1/4yd Cotton Fabric
  • 1/4yd Fusible Interfacing
  • 1" Elastic, 4"-5" in length
  • Basic Sewing Supplies

DIRECTIONS:

To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
Use 3/8" seam allowance unless otherwise noted.
  1. Use the pattern to cut four pieces from cotton fabric and two pieces from interfacing.
  2. Apply fusible interfacing to two pieces of fabric.
  3. Put right sides together of one piece with interfacing and one without. Sew along both long edges of the two pieces. Repeat with other two pieces. Turn right side out and press.
  4. Topstitch 1/4" apart to make quilting lines on all fabric pieces. Then, place headband pieces together, overlapping each other, and sew the ends together. It may not lay flat right now, but it will lay flat on the head.
  5. Cut one 4"x8" rectangle of fabric.
  6. Turn and press 1/4" on each short side of the rectangle.
  7. Line up the the long sides of the rectangle together to have the right sides facing each other and sew along the edge to turn the rectangle into one piece. Turn right side out and press.
  8. Cut 1" elastic 4"-5" in length if it is not already that length. Thread elastic through the 4"x8" piece.
  9. To combine the quilted headband piece and fabric with elastic, pin and sew the fabric with elastic to each end of headband, folding in edges if needed to enclose the ends of headband.

JOANN HACKS:
