The Dritz Home Awl with Wooden Handle is a handy tool that can be used to punch, mark or drill holes for many DIY home decorating applications, including furniture reupholstery and drapery projects. It measures 3.5 inches long including handles. You can use this awl to make holes for small wood screws, screw eyes or tieback hooks. It also works perfectly to mark hole positions for hanging window treatments and punch holes in leather and plastic.

Lovely awl!
Perfect for what I wanted! The wooden handle is egg-shaped, making it comfortable and easy to use to poke a hole in anything. The point is very sharp, and there is a solid plastic tube to cover the whole metal area when storing the awl.

The right tool for the job!
You do need this tool. Think about adding a new hole to a fav belt. Even if you are using a grommet to line the hole, you need this tool. If you need to mark a spot through multiple layers, to mark a fabric thru a pattern, or to just make sure the hook for your hook/eyes has the proper curve.
The design lets us use the force of your palm rather than relying on my fingers.
I bought 2 because my tools tend to end up other places in my organization.

ok awl
It fits perfectly in my hand and has a good grip, but doesn't poke holes that big. It's a little strange that it straightens out at the end instead of getting larger, but it is sharp.

Good Awl for a good Price!
I bought this a couple weeks ago and it has been really great so far. I had a little bit of a harder time punching through thicker things, but once I got used to the bigger handle, I had a lot of success!
