Not great, can't recommend
These are extremely thin. They looked remarkably close on the website, to similar buttons I'd bought on Amazon. There were more in the bag than the 50 stated (in the description, it says actual number varies.) 45 buttons were intact, the others were chattered and/or cracked and unusable. If I can use them at all, I will have to glue at least 2 together to have a thicker button affixed that might not snap in half in normal cardigan-wear. For the price I paid, $3 for 50 buttons sounded great, but I cannot recommend this item. These were purchased online, so if they had been available in-store, perhaps I could have picked a bag myself that did not have any/so many broken buttons. However, you can't feel the thinness until they're in your hand. The back of the card the button bag was stapled to does say hand wash only, but I don't think they'd make it through a careful handwashing anyway.

I think these are made of real sea shells. They are paper thin and break very easily with limited pressure. I am afraid that even if you are to put them through the button hole, they will break. This is quite unfortunate. They are pretty on one side. They are too flimsy and delicate. This would break instantly in the washing machine or with light hand washing. I can't really think of when or how you could use these at all for anything

Exactly What I Wanted
First off: the other reviewer is right, they are thin, but I am a curvy gal and don't rely on buttons to actually hold things together in my projects. Just decorative. That being said, they are a nice beige to black on one side and pearlescent on the other. I did not have any broken. Being shells, some are wavy and most slightly bow in/back on the beige side and out/forward on the pearl side. Some are very thin and some could probably hold a bit of weight. They gave me a twofer, because I guess they got a shipment of misprints that says 80 on the front and 50 on the back (it had 50). Thanks guys!

Buttons were very thin. Some were broken. Returned for other buttons.
