The cloth around the seams could not handle any tension because it was so loosely woven. The fabric fell apart at the seams on the 3'rd washing. It may have worked for a robe that wrapped with a belt, but the zip front idea put too much tension along the bottom seams and it fell apart. It's not as thickly woven as a bath towel. My zip front pattern proably would have been better with a knit fleece or possibly a stretch velvet. Will be trying my pattern again with some type of knit, because this terry cannot handle it.
Date published: 2011-10-18

Rated 4 out of 5 by BrianneMorgan from After washing/drying I bought 2 yards in the store and washed them when I got home. I washed them on the "normal" setting on my washer inside a pillow case that was pinned, and then I dried them like I do the rest of my clothes. After the seams are sewn I will not use a pillow case. Unfortunately, I didn't fact check the measurements before and after, but I am posting this review because I really like the feel of this cloth. I'm a beginner at sewing and serging, and this is my first time working with terry cloth, but I think the material will help make nice burp cloths for our daughter in combination with the cozy flannel. This is not a plush material, but it's not very coarse either. It's somewhere in the middle.
Date published: 2017-06-21

Rated 4 out of 5 by Lynn from Glad I bought I was very disappointed in the color, as I purchased what was listed as "Sage". It was more like a pea green, rather than a sage green. But, I was very pleased with the quality of the fabric...very thick. I got this with 50% off, so that was a great factor, as well. I would have been able to make the hooded towels with just one piece of fabric, but made it even more plush with 2 pieces. Definitely a good bargain, but wish I would have bought the yellow, instead of the sage, since I'm not fond of the sage color.
Date published: 2012-08-27

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from swimmer I saw this fabric online and there learned that it was in my store. I needed 2yrds and after reading the reviews I decided to go with 2yrds 4in. By the time I washed and dried the fabric I lost 5in. That seems to be a bit much. Other than the shrinkage, the terry cloth is great - full and soft, feels wonderful. Just be sure to buy a little extra (2-3in a yard) to compensate for any shrinkage.
Date published: 2015-04-17

Rated 3 out of 5 by sewingmomma from Nice and thick, but shrinks! After reading reviews, I decided to buy 3 yards of this (went to store, wanted see it before I purchased it). I like the thickness of it, nice and soft. Put all 3 yards in washer and dryer before cutting it, so towels wouldn't shrink when I was done with them and boy, am I glad I did!! I noticed others commenting about shrinkage and they weren't kidding! 3 yds = 108" before washing, after washing I had 99" so basically I lost 3" per yard. That was about double what I was expecting, so make sure to purchase extra. I did not loose any of the width tho, it is still 44". Weird.... Also this material did not fray much after it was washed and dried, very easy to clean up cut edges after cutting out pieces. Only other complaint I had was I had one large "snag" line that went clear across the width of the bolt and one small snag line that went about 1/2 way across the width. I managed to work with them, since I was cutting out lots of small hand towels, but if I had been trying to keep it in one large piece, I would have had a problem. Price wise - not bad, I used a 40% off coupone on it, it's now on sale for only 25% off, so I'll wait until it goes back to full price and use a coupon on it again. NOTE TO JOANNS: WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE BLACK BROUGHT BACK AND AN APPLE RED COLOR WOULD BE NICE ALSO PLEASE!!!! I looked at the website and decided to purchase from you because you showed black as a color you sold. I now see it has been taken off of the site.
Date published: 2014-04-10

Cotton Terry Cloth Fabric-Solids Reviews - page 2

y_2019, m_10, d_12, h_8

bvseo_bulk, prod_bvrr, vn_bulk_2.0.13

cp_1, bvpage1

co_hasreviews, tv_9, tr_55

loc_en_US, sid_zprd_10104743a, prod, sort_[SortEntry(order=RELEVANCE, direction=DESCENDING)]

clientName_joann

bvseo_sdk, dw_cartridge, 18.2.0, p_sdk_3.2.0

CLOUD, getReviews, 96ms

reviews, product
