However, if I iron with the extension, the iron bumps against the side of the extension, the cover should have an additional thickness at this point for the passage from the iron board to the extended part be done witjhout the bump.

It is also convertible to a pointed end for your clothing ironing or other projects. It is sturdy so it is very stable for hoisting all that fabric around.
