Monk cloth
I use monk cloth for afghans. It gets zigzagged edges and then washed and dried. Using regular 4 ply yarn, I make a design on the material and it makes a wonderful lightweight cover. I use 2 and a half yards.

There is a fix for too loose monks cloth!!
When it's too loose... I sprayed the fabric with HEAVY SPRAY STARCH I really soaked both sides and then put it in the dryer with a towel and let it dry all the way. It reduced the count from 12 squares per inch to 16 squares per inch and now it works PERFECTLY. Just shrink it girls, come on "you can do it!!" Kim

Works great for punch Needle
I’ve already used it to make many projects. I bought this before realizing that there’s different types of monks cloth especially for punch needle. I’ve heard that this wasn’t the right monks cloth, but it works. I’ve made many sturdy wall rugs and I’ve seen many people use this same monks cloth for they’re punch needle projects. I use this monks cloth when I don’t have time to buy the more expensive ones online.

NOT FOR PUNCH NEEDLING
I wish I had read the reviews before I purchased this because as the other reviews say this is not for punch needling. Very disappointed.

Do NOT buy this for punch needle!
The weave is way too loose for rug hooking/punch needle, even with a #10 Oxford needle and chunky yarn. Probably great for Swedish weaving, but definitely not punch needle;

4 out of 5 because I haven’t played with it enough
Just picked this up and I was a little nervous to try to use it with my punch needle because it’s not a standard 12 count more like a 7, so I was worried the holes would be too loose. With my skc punch needle I was able to get some loops to stay in but not many, I then switched to a punch needle That was the width of 1/8th of an inch (0.5cm) and it worked perfectly. I tugged on my strands and they are secured in. Again my review is based on this test run only. Hopefully this helps guide you a little if you’re questioning whether it’s good enough for certain needle punch projects!
