SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 18-20 gauge wire
  • 28 gauge gold or copper wire to match ring wire
  • Assorted beads with drilled holes
  • Plastic ring sizer
  • Wire cutters
  • Needle nosed pliers

DIRECTIONS:

Bird Nest Design:

  1. Cut a piece of wire to be 14".
  2. Slide the bead onto the middle of the wire and bend it around the ring sizer.
  3. Bring both ends of the wires back to the front and wrap the wires in opposite directions around the bead.
  4. Slide the wire up and over going around the ring to create a bird nest look.
  5. Once you make the nest the size you want, snip off the ends of the wire with about 1/4" past the nest.
  6. Use the needle nose pliers to bend the ends up and under the nest.
  7. Tuck the ends close to the nest making sure the sharp ends are away from the finger.

Wrapped Smooth Stone Design:

  1. Repeat the bird nest design, but do not weave the wire around the top, but wrap it around the bead, making sure the wire does not overlap, but goes around the stone.
  2. Wrap the ends around the band of the ring a couple of times and then snip off the ends, making them close to the bottom of the stone.

Single Large Stone Design:
  1. Cut a 5" piece of wire.
  2. Wrap it around the ring sizer making the wire overlap at the bottom of the finger.
  3. Use a 2" piece of the 28-gauge wire and wrap the two wires at the base of the ring.
  4. Snip off the extra wire.
  5. Thread a 2" piece of wire through the large stone.
  6. Attach each end of the stone onto the ring wire at the top of the ring.
  7. Loop the thin wire multiple times around the ring wire until the stone feels secure, 3-4 times.
  8. Snip off the ends and tuck them towards the ring.

Spun Wire Design with Multiple Beads:

  1. Take a 12" piece of 18 gauge wire, fold in half and twist tightly until there is a 5" section of twisted wire.
  2. Wrap the twisted wire around the ring sizer 4 times. Slide it off the ring sizer.
  3. Between the middle two wires, attach the first bead using the thinner wire. Then go to the wire at the top of the wired bead and attach the next bead to the wire above. Then do the same to the bottom of the first bead and attach the next bead to the wire below.
  4. Snip the ends of the wires to be 1/4" past the stones on each side of the middle. Using the needle nosed pliers turn the ends to curl back towards the middle of the ring.

3 In A Row:

  1. Wrap a 6" piece wire around the ring sizer with 3 beads in the center and bring the ends to the top of the ring and around again to the top of the ring, making three rows of wire.
  2. Use a thin piece of wire and tie the three wires together at the bottom of the ring.
  3. At the top of the ring use a 12" piece of thin wire, starting at the outside of the first stone and wrap the three wires together in between each stone and at the end at the end of the grouping of the three stones to secure them in place.
  4. Take the ends of the ring wire and using the needle nosed pliers wrap the ends towards the middle of the stones to create a design on top of the stones or around them on the sides to kind of group the stones.
  5. Curl the ends tight and snip off the excess.
